This 501(c)(3) non-profit will serve as the key partner in managing and supporting in-district charter programs, ensuring both financial sustainability and educational success.

With Lamar CISD’s rapid growth and increasing demand for diverse, high-quality educational options, Lamar Legacy Partners will play a critical role in:
- Securing Additional Resources – Accessing grants, private funding, and donations to enhance programs beyond traditional district funding.
- Providing Oversight & Accountability – Supporting the governance and operational success of innovative schools through performance monitoring and strategic guidance.
- Strengthening Community & Industry Partnerships – Connecting Lamar CISD schools with businesses, universities, and workforce leaders to create real-world learning experiences for students.
- Sustaining & Expanding Choice Schools – Ensuring long-term viability and scaling successful models to benefit more students and families.

About Texas Senate Bill 1882
Senate Bill 1882 (SB 1882), passed in 2017, provides Texas school districts with the opportunity to partner with non-profit organizations, higher education institutions, or government entities to operate and manage district schools as in-district charter schools. The law is designed to expand innovation, increase student outcomes, and provide additional funding for participating schools.
By leveraging SB 1882, Lamar CISD and Lamar Legacy Partners can together create innovative Schools of Choice that align with community needs while ensuring strong academic performance and sustainable growth.
Governance & Leadership
Lamar Legacy Partners is governed by an experienced, diverse Board of Directors with expertise in education, law, finance, policy, and community engagement. Together, the members of the Board will help guide and shape the work at the non-profit’s first offering, Bright Futures Academy at Beasley Elementary, while also overseeing the development of additional specialty programs and charter schools to serve the Lamar CISD community.

Bright Futures Academy at Beasley Elementary
Finding the right learning environment for your child matters. That’s why Lamar CISD and Lamar Legacy Partners are partnering to launch this innovative new program to meet the unique needs of students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Traditional classroom settings can sometimes lead to challenges like sensory overload, frustration, and even unsafe behaviors. Bright Futures Academy is different. We focus on creating a safe, structured, and supportive setting where young learners can thrive. For children in Pre-K through 2nd grade, we provide:
- Specialized classrooms tailored to sensory and behavioral needs
- Targeted communication and behavioral supports to help students engage and learn
- A caring team that understands how to help children navigate the school day successfully
