Area Superintendent: Dr. Shannon Hood

About: With 35 years of dedicated service in Lamar CISD, Dr. Shannon Hood is a passionate educational leader committed to fostering student success, developing strong campus leaders, and building collaborative school communities. She began her career as a student teacher at Jane Long Elementary before serving as a teacher at Jane Long and Smith Elementary, Gifted and Talented Facilitator at Williams Elementary, assistant principal at Williams Elementary, and principal of Frost Elementary. Dr. Hood earned both her Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Education from the University of Houston and her Doctor of Education from Texas A&M University. She is a graduate of the Holdsworth Campus Leadership Program and the Harvard Leadership Program and was named Lamar CISD Elementary Principal of the Year in 2013. As Area Superintendent, Dr. Hood partners with campus leaders to cultivate high expectations, strengthen instructional excellence, and ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.
