    The Lamar CISD ASAP Program is a dropout prevention program designed to ensure that parenting students complete their high school education.

What We Do

Family Support Specialists remove barriers to student success.

Working with students 1:1 in groups to address:

  • Social emotional development
  • Crisis
  • Grief
  • Resolving conflict
  • Goal setting
  • Improving attendance or academic needs

Assisting McKinney Vento families

Providing resources/refer families to community resources:

  • Basic needs: Food/Clothing/Housing
  • Medical
  • Mental health
  • Financial
  • Transportation

Performing home visits:

  • Attendance/academic concerns
  • Wellness visits
  • Establishing contact with caregiver
  • Assisting with paperwork
  • Deliver/pick up documents/items
  • Provide social/emotional support to students and families

Establishing contact, developing, and maintaining effective relationships with parents regarding their children’s academic performance, behavior, and emotional needs.

Serving as a liason between school personnel and families:

  • School administrators
  • School counselors
  • Participate in ARD meetings, attendance review committee meetings, parent conferences, etc.
