Area Superintendent: Carla Thomas
About: With nearly 35 years in education, Carla A. Thomas is a dedicated educational leader committed to ensuring every student receives an exemplary education. She began her career in Lamar CISD at Smith Elementary, where she served in a variety of roles including teacher, campus facilitator, assistant principal, and principal. In 2019, she had the honor of opening Culver Elementary as its founding principal, leading the campus for three years before becoming principal of Pink Elementary in 2023, where she fostered a culture of excellence and strong relationships focused on student success. Mrs. Thomas earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and her Master of Educational Administration from the University of Houston–Victoria. As Area Superintendent of the Red Track, she is passionate about developing leaders, building high-performing schools, and creating opportunities for every student and staff member to thrive.
