Area Superintendent:  Dr. Melissia Smith

About: With more than 20 years of experience in education, Dr. Melissia Smith is an educational leader committed to strengthening instructional systems, developing leadership capacity, and ensuring every student learns at high levels. After more than a decade of classroom experience, Dr. Smith went on to serve as an assistant principal, associate principal, and principal across alternative, juvenile justice, and a comprehensive campus, giving her a unique perspective on the diverse needs of students, educators, and school communities. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Education, a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. She has also completed executive leadership programs through Rice University and Harvard University. In 2024, she was honored to be named Lamar CISD Secondary Principal of the Year. As Area Superintendent of the Blue Track, Dr. Smith believes that excellence is not reserved for some students; it is the expectation for every student. She partners with campus leaders to build the systems, culture, and instructional practices that make high levels of learning possible for every student. Her leadership is grounded in one belief: every student, every day, high expectations
