It is my pleasure to report the accomplishments of your students, from the combined Lamar and Terry students of Chapter 3696, at the SkillsUSA state competition in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The students displayed the most dominating performance in a state competition. Your 3-time defending state champion Chapter Business Procedure team, consisting of team members, Ogechi Ujari, Mayowa Amu, Lilly Chapa, Odalis Deleon, Jayson Onyidiri, and Cassandra Carrion, is now the 4-time defending state champions. Your defending state champion Criminal Justice Quiz Bowl team, Hunter Holmes, Jayden Shields, Jared Chavez, Randy Weishiemer, Benita Dehen, not only defended their reign, out of 27 teams, but they barely hung on to beat their biggest rival, the Lamar team 2, Alexandra Blake, Felix Maduka, Andre Espiritu, Zachary Bowman, and Alyssa Linares. For the first time in SkillsUSA history, two teams from the same school (chapter), came in first and second place in the state competition. OUTSTANDING!!!!

Your Emblem Ceremony team, Lauren Vasquez, Guadalupe Childress-Cruz, and Emmade Rasul, came in third place. The Felony Traffic Stop team, Hunter Holmes and Randy Weishiemer, Jr. came in third place. We also received Silver Medals in the Criminal Justice Theory technical test by Jayden Shields and Ogechi Ujari. We received a total of 30 state medals. UNBELIEVABLE!!!  They also received numerous blue and red ribbons for their projects.

The Chapter Business Procedure team will try to improve on their 2nd place finish last year in the SkillsUSA National competition in Kansas City, Missouri, by going for the Gold in the SkillsUSA National competition in Louisville, Kentucky, this summer.

The students will be wearing their medals today, please recognize their accomplishments. They represented their schools, parents, and this community extremely well. You should all be proud of them. Please go to their website on Facebook and "like" their page. "Skillsusa chapter 3696".

Thank you staff for your devotion to your students. I also want to give a personal thank you to Ms. Beverly Sanders, Ms. LaDonna Beers, and Ms. Saundra Hill for their tireless work in helping to prepare your students for the competition. Job well done!!!
