FAQs for Proposition C

  • Laptops include larger batteries for extended use, are built for durability, and come with a 5-year accidental damage warranty to reduce long-term repair costs.

  • Chromebooks are less durable, have shorter warranties, and limited functionality. Implementing them would require new infrastructure and increased local budget demands.

  • Devices are sold to certified resellers who securely wipe data and pay Lamar CISD based on market value. In May 2025, 120 desktops and 201 laptops were sold for a combined $10,861.

  • Staff computers must support multitasking across web apps (Skyward, Canvas), locally installed software (Word, Excel), and background tools (content filters, antivirus, system monitoring).
