Summer School Opportunities in Lamar CISD

Lamar CISD offers a variety of summer learning opportunities designed to support student success. Programs are available for eligible elementary, junior high, and high school students, including Emergent Bilingual summer learning, STAAR EOC support, credit recovery, and Extended School Year (ESY) services. General Summer School Information

  • WHAT:

    Initial Credit and Credit Recovery Classes (1/2 credit each session).

    WHO:

    Open to current students in grades 8th – 12th.

    ONLINE REGISTRATION:

    Registration for Initial Credit and Credit Restoration through Family Access in Skyward from April 15 - May 17.
    For Initial Credit Courses, pay through SchoolCash. Payment(s) must be received in full by May 15 or the student will be dropped from the course. Scholarships are available for those in need. Please contact your campus counselor for more information.

    TRANSPORTATION:

    • Morning Pick-Up: 7:15 AM
    • Afternoon Drop-Off: 3:30 PM

    MEALS:

    No charge for breakfast and lunch during the summer school academic sessions.

    SESSIONS:

    Monday - Thursday from 8:15 AM to 3:30 PM

    • Session #1: June 1 — June 11
    • Session #2: June 29 — July 9

    INITIAL CREDIT

    Initial credit courses must have 10 students registered for the course to make.

    • In-District Cost: $150 per session
    • Reduced Lunch: $75 per session
    • Out-of-District Cost: $250 per session

    • Algebra 2 (Sessions 1 & 2 – 1 credit)

    • Geometry (Sessions 1 & 2 – 1 credit; only for current 9th–11th graders)

  • WHAT:

    Accelerated Instruction for ELAR, Math, Science and History

    • Students will receive accelerated instruction to close instructional gaps.
    • Students will participate in enrichment activities to prepare them for the next grade level.
    • Upon successful completion of summer school, determination of promotion/retention will be made by a campus administrator.

    WHO:

    Current students who have failed core content classes

    • 7th & 8th grade ELAR, Math, Science, or History

    REGISTRATION:

    April 15 – May 17

    Students will receive letters from campus counselors. Parents must read, sign, and return the summer school agreement. Upon receipt, campus counselors will register students in summer school.

    • No Make-Up Day

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

    • STAAR EOC tutorials are offered at George Ranch High School for all LCISD students needing to retake an exam.
    • Students must pass STAAR EOCs in:
      • Algebra 1
      • English 1
      • English 2
      • Biology
      • US History
        to graduate.
    • Students attend tutorials for the full day.
    • If a student needs more than one subject, they may receive tutoring in two subjects per day, depending on scheduling.

Transportation Schedules

2026 Extended School Year (ESY)- Special Education

The extended school year is a special education service determined by the student's ARD committee by reviewing student data and progress. The service is intended to reduce and prevent regression of skills during the summer months. ESY programs include academic, behavioral, and social skills support.
