Austin Elementary Library

Mission Statement

The mission of the library media program is to collaborate with teachers in enriching the curriculum so that students become lifelong learners who love reading and can evaluate and efficiently use information from a variety of sources.

Student Checkout and Classes

Students visit the library every week to check out books and library classes are conducted once every two weeks. Students can also visit individually as needed, with their teacher's permission.

Kindergarten and 1st grade students check out one book per week, while 2nd-5th grade students may check out two books per week. They may not check out any books unless the previous ones are returned or rechecked.

Library Activities

The library sponsors two Book Fairs each year in October and February. The proceeds from the Book Fairs help to buy new library books and additional materials.  The library also sponsors several programs including Accelerated Reader, Texas Bluebonnet Reading, and Six Flags Read to Succeed.

Library volunteers are an essential part of our program. They help in shelving books and with special activities such as the Book Fairs. Please contact Mrs. Evans if you are interested in volunteering.
