Welcome to Cora Thomas Library. My name is JoEllen Michalec, and I am your librarian. Amazing things are happening at Cora Thomas Library inclucing makerspace clubs, Bluebonnet experiences, Beanstack, coding, reading and discussions of amazing books, book fairs, book clubs, and more. The mission of Lamar Consolidated ISD Librarians is to create a physical and digital environment in which our students, staff, and community can strengthen their natural inquisitive nature, foster a love of reading, and serve as a collaborative resource for teachers and staff in developing and delivering powerful learning experiences across all curricular areas.
Beanstack is an app our students at Cora Thomas Elementary use to track their independent reading this year. We are so excited to use Beanstack at Cora Thomas Elementary. When you child reads each night, have them login to Beanstack and enter their reading on the Beanstack reading log. Students earn badges and tickets. The tickets can be put into drawings for books or a Kindle Fire. Below are the login instructions:
Step 1: Sign in to Classlink
If you are using a device from home:
· Go to www.lcisd.org
· Click on the Classlink connector at the top of the page.
· Login to Classlink. (Your child will need to have their LCISD username and password.)
· Once you are in Classlink, click on the Beanstack connector.
Step 2:
· Choose the date of reading from the calendar.
· Log minutes spent reading.
· Enter the title of the book you read along with the number of minutes your child read.
· Click “Log” at the bottom of the page.
Step 3: Earn virtual badges and recognition along with tickets for drawings.
As you log your reading, you will earn virtual badges, prizes, your name entered in drawings and recognition at school.
· Visit the Apple App Store or Google Play store and search for ‘Beanstack’.
· Click ‘Get Started’ and select the ‘schools’ tab (not libraries).
· Search for our school (Thomas Elementary) and make sure you see the LCISD Logo.
· Sign in using your normal district username and your last name as the password.
