May 03, 2020 | Community Relations

Please join Lamar CISD in recognizing May 4 - 8 as National Teacher Appreciation Week.

At its April meeting, the Board of Trustees approved a resolution declaring National Teacher Appreciation Week. The week-long event is celebrated throughout the nation and commends teachers for their dedication to their students.

This special designation serves as a reminder to the public and recognizes the importance of a teacher’s ability to mold our future citizens through their guidance and education.

Today’s teachers encounter students of widely differing backgrounds and abilities and are required to use many different teaching strategies to meet the needs of each student.

Our society expects public education to provide quality education services to all children, regardless of their background or ability. Our country’s future depends on the education our youth receive today. Teachers spend countless hours outside their classrooms preparing lessons, evaluating progress, counseling and coaching students and performing community service.

The Board of Trustees calls on the community to join with the Board in personally expressing appreciation to our teachers for a job well done.
