All About Me

I am Lydia Vargas the GT Facilitator at Bentley Elementary.  I have 18 years of teaching experience which includes teaching kindergarten for 8 years in HISD, and 10 years in Lamar in grades 2nd and 4th.  I have a son attending Foster High School and one dog named, Bella.  Traveling and reading are two things I love to do.  I look forward to being a part of the Bentley family.

I will be on campus Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.  The best way to contact me is through email.  My email is lyvargas@lcisd.org.

GT Nominations for 2018-2019 School Year

To nominate a student for the elementary Lamar CISD GT Program, a nomination form must be filled out & returned; nomination forms are accepted year round.  This form can be accessed by clicking on the link on the bottom of this page or picking one up in the front office.  Kindergarten students do not need to be nominated, as every student is screened for the program.   Kinder parents will be notified this year of their child's results by the first week of March. First through 4th grade students already identified as Gifted & Talented do not need to be reassessed.   Fifth graders, including current GT students interested in participating in the 6th grade GT Program DO need to be nominated since it is LCISD's policy to re-screen all GT fifth graders for the secondary program.  The GT Program serves students who have an educational need for specialized services.  The program includes placement with a classroom teacher trained in gifted education.

Nomination Forms need to be turned in to the front office.

Parents of students going through the screening process this spring will be notified of the A.R.E decision the first week of May, 2019.
