The first nine weeks officially ends this Friday, October 27th. As we have done in the past students on the last day of each nine-weeks can wear clothing that is not uniform dress. With Red Ribbon Week this week, the students can wear their Astros jerseys, Texans jerseys on Thursday and can still dress like a Rock Star on Friday. Anything they choose must be within district dress code. It is an exciting time for Houston sports fans with the Astros going to the World Series so we hope students will support the Astros or Texans on Thursday. This Friday is also early release and the students will be released from school at 11:30 a.m.
This Thursday, October 26th beginning at 6:00 pm we will be having a memorial service for one of our former teachers who recently passed away in Arizona. Diana Barnett, a much beloved teacher at Austin Elementary School, will be remembered in the gym. All ex-students, staff, parents, and community members are welcome to attend. There will be a slide show at the end of the program and all those in attendance may stay to visit and share old memories of their time with Mrs. Barnett.
This week is the first week of early voting in Fort Bend County. Early voting runs from October 23rd to November 3rd. The official election is on November 7th. One of the items on the ballot is the Lamar CISD Bond vote. We encourage you to go out and vote whether you are for or against the proposal. If you need more information on the Bond Election go to the LCISD webpage and click on Bond 2017.
