Astronotes for January 30, 2014

Jan 30, 2014 | Bud Whileyman

This is the coldest winter that we have had in quite a while.  We have lost 2 instructional days because of the weather.  Make-up days are built into the current school calendar unless the state allows us to forego them.  Because of the bad weather last Friday, we have rescheduled our Success Assemblies for this Friday, January 31st at the regular scheduled times.  This date is also Pajama Day which will make for an interesting Success Assembly.  If your child wants to wear their Pajamas, please send $1.00 to Student Council.

This week and next the 3rd – 5th grade students will be taking their STAAR Benchmark tests, which is last year’s release STAAR test.  These tests will be used to help the teachers determine how prepared the students will be when the real test comes out in April.  The test will also help the teachers to identify the specific curriculum needs of each student so that those skills can be reinforced during the following months of school.
