The first thing you should do when using the Follett Shelf is to decide if you want to read an eBook online or if you would prefer to check it out.  Use the chart below to help you make your decision.

Read the eBook online if:

  • The eBook is shorter and readable in one sitting, or
  • If you do not want to check the eBook out
  • If you choose this option, you will sign in as a guest
  • Everyone (students, staff & parents) are able to sign in as guests

Check out the eBook if:

  • The eBook is longer and will require starting and stopping to finish it, or
  • If you don't want someone else to check the eBook out before you finish reading it
  • If you choose this option you will sign into your personal Follett Shelf account
  • Students and staff are able to check out eBooks, but parents are welcome to use the eBooks as guests only

More information:

User Name and Password

  • For Students: The Log In is your school ID number (your lunch number) and the Password is cougar.

Loan Period

  • All eBooks have a loan period of one week.

How Many?

  • Due to the limited number of eBooks currently available, each student's limit is set to one eBook at a time.
  • eBooks have their own circulation system separate from the one used to check out hard copy books in the library at school.

Returning?

  • All eBooks are automatically checked in exactly one week from when they were checked out.
  • You may return an ebook early by going to your Bookbag and clicking on the button with the return arrow below the eBook that is currently checked out to you.

Renewing?

  • Unfortunately at this time the Follett Shelf does not allow eBooks to be renewed.
  • A work-around for this would be to simply check the eBook out to yourself again after it has been returned.
