January 29, 2024  – Rosenberg, Texas – Last Friday, George Junior High School celebrated 50 years of tradition, education, and excellence with alumni, staff, and friends of the campus.

The event included an orchestra and choir performance, band showcase, and guided campus tours. Alumni were invited to take a group picture, and all guests signed a wall banner.

“It’s such a great time being able to celebrate such a big milestone with our students, staff, and our community,” George JH Principal Dr. Erin Forbes said.

In 1973, the campus originally opened as Lamar Junior High. Then, in 1979, the Lamar CISD Board of Trustees approved the renaming of the campus to honor Albert and Mamie George, who played an instrumental part in Fort Bend County’s history.

“As our District continues to grow, it’s important to take a moment to reflect on the path that was created long before us to get us where we are today,” Lamar CISD Superintendent Dr. Roosevelt Nivens said.

A special thank you to Texas A&M Forest Service for donating a pair of trees in honor of the occasion.
