On March 9, Briscoe Junior High student Nicholas “Nicko” Lloyd was recognized as an Honorary Lamar CISD Police Officer by the gold track police and security teams.

In a letter to Briscoe’s Officer James Edge for a school project, Nicko expressed his aspirations to become a police officer in the future to help serve and protect his community, just like the Lamar CISD School Resource Officers (SRO) and School Security Officers (SSO). In response to the letter, Briscoe’s security team decided to do something special for Nicko.

The security team surprised Nicko on campus, named him an Honorary Lamar CISD Police Officer and presented him with an official Lamar CISD Police Department patch, a specialized Police Department shirt and a framed response from Officer Edge.

Nicko’s classmates also got to partake in the fun when the police and security officers showed up with custom Lamar CISD Police Department mugs for each student, donuts and their official police vehicles for the class to tour and enjoy.
