In the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl across our area, Lamar CISD is canceling all summer school classes, programs, extracurricular activities, and practices scheduled for Wednesday, July 10 and Thursday, July 11. All locations will remain closed to students and staff on Wednesday, July 10, and Thursday, July 11. This closure will allow our maintenance teams to work efficiently and without interruptions, ensuring our schools are safe. We will welcome all staff and students on Monday, July 15.

Message from Lamar CISD Superintendent Dr. Roosevelt Nivens

Jun 01, 2021 | Community Relations

Lamar CISD Family,

I am honored and excited to officially introduce myself as the new superintendent for Lamar CISD.

In my short time here, I’ve had the chance to begin visiting with our students, parents, community members, elected officials and various other stakeholders. I’ve also met many of our top-notch teachers and leaders who are speaking life into our students daily by encouraging them to reach their full potential. Even during one of the most challenging years ever, this community continued to provide our students with the time, resources and support they needed to succeed.

What’s clear to me is that students come first—and that won’t change.

With your partnership, I’m looking forward to building upon the many successes in Lamar CISD. In the meantime, if you’d like to learn a little more about me, please check out my introduction video here.

I hope you all have a restful summer break full of joy and if you see me out and about, please stop and say hello!

Dr. Roosevelt Nivens
Superintendent
