Transportation Information

SMART Tag is a system designed to improve the safety and security of students who utilize school bus transportation. It provides live monitoring of where and when students load onto and unload off of their school bus to keep transportation, school administrators and parents informed.

WHAT TO DO WHEN:

-Your child is absent: Call to notify the school office. When the child returns to school, send a signed note within 5 school days, giving dates and reason for the absence from a parent, medical professional, or court official.

-Your child is tardy: The child must report to the office for an admittance slip before going to class, preferably with a signed note giving the reason for tardiness. Accumulated time of tardies is calculated by minutes in lost instructional time.

-You need to pick up your child early before dismissal time: Go to the office to sign the child out and wait there for the child. Please be prepared to show photo identification. If it is necessary for someone other than the parent/guardian to pick up your child, that person must be named as an emergency contact. Your child will stay in the classroom until the person is there to pick them up. Request to check out your child must be done 30 minutes prior to dismissal of the school day. Accumulated time of early pick-ups is calculated by minutes in lost instructional time.

-You need to make a change to transportation: Parents must not remove students from a bus line or bus. Any change in transportation arrangements for any student requires a written note or phone call to the front office from the parent 30 minutes prior to dismissal of the school day. Emails will NOT be accepted.  Permanent Transportation changes must be made in writing.  A Transportation Change Form can be downloaded.  See Campus Forms, adjacent to this information.

Traffic Flow Map
For Car-rider drop-off and pick-up, parents will enter the car-rider line on the south end of Sunrise Meadow Drive.  See the map below.

Let's Keep Our Car Rider Line Safe

House Bill 347

Prohibits the use of cell phones while driving on school property during reduced speed time zones in order to improve pedestrian safety. The ban applies to any school property where a school crossing zone is present. The only exceptions to the law are when the vehicle is stopped, the driver is using a hands-free device, or if the individual is in the process of making an emergency call or operating an emergency vehicle.

Here is the link to the Texas School Safety Center page.

Please refrain from using your phone while in the car rider line so all remain safe.

Car Rider
AM Drop Off:

When dropping off your student in the morning please follow the same traffic flow as the PM pick up.
Our goal is to keep the line moving and maximize every available drop off point.  We begin at 7:15 and tardy bell rings at 7:45 AM.

The first parent in the line should pull all the way up to the first drop off spot.

At 7:45 AM our safety patrol students and staff head to class to begin the day of learning

If you see staff and students are no longer outside, you will need to park and walk your students into the front office.

REMINDERS:

  • Car seats need to be on the right side of the car if your child needs assistance getting out of the vehicle

  • Have your child prepared and ready to exit the vehicle

  • Move all the way forward and maximize all space.  If we are signaling you forward please full forward further.

  • The visitors lot may be used for parents who are meeting walking their child into the office for a meeting or to speak with office personnel.  It is unsafe to drop off students in this parking lot and cross via the cross walk.  Additionally, this slows down our car rider drop-off line.

PM Pick Up:

We will be attaching the same family number to your child's backpack on the first day at school. This makes it easy to match the numbers at dismissal time. If you do not have this number for your child, you are welcome to pick it up during the school day.

When picking up your child in the car rider line after school, you will need to display the "family" car rider number by hanging it in the windshield so the number is easily visible. This must be showing every day to pick up students in the car rider line. If the person picking up a student does not have this number then he/she will be asked to park and go inside the building to provide identification.

Thank you for helping us make the car rider line run as smoothly as possible.  Please pay attention to the cars in front of you and pull as far forward as possible.  If we are waving you forward you will need to move to the next section.
