Lamar CISD Community Relations Department Earns 16 State Awards

The Lamar CISD Community Relations Department was recently recognized with 16 statewide awards, including one top distinction, by the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA). Lamar CISD competes in the “More than 30,0000 students” category each year.

       Awards received for the year are:

  • Silver Star: Back-to-School Newsletter | Printed External Newsletter
  • Silver Star: COVID-19 Summer Update | Video: News Package

Lamar CISD won the prestigious Best of Category award in the printed internal newsletter category for the District’s COVID-19 report. The Best of Category award goes to the top Gold Star entry in each competition category, with school districts competing against same-sized districts.

Community Relations is a department under Administrative Services & Leadership Development (Dr. Mike Rockwood and Barbara Johnson). The Community Relations team (Lindsey Sanders, Sydney Whigam, Justin Terry, Sandra Straub, Anita Gray and Virginia Castillo) works closely with the Graphic Arts Department (Jorge Carmona, John Garrou, Mariana Diaz, Cara Bryan, Jerry Gania, Greg Mikes, Jackie Cobbin and Margaret Leger) and the Lamar Educational Awards Foundation (April Nemec).
