Anthony named to lead Ranger athletics

At its March meeting, the Lamar CISD Board of Trustees approved Cornelius Anthony to be the Campus Coordinator and football coach at Terry High School.

Anthony comes to Lamar CISD after three years at Willowridge High School. He served as the Defensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach for the past two seasons.

Anthony also coached girls’ basketball, tennis, track and softball at Willowridge.

Anthony is returning to Lamar CISD. He coached football and track at George Junior High School 2009-2013 and taught Special Education.

He has his bachelor’s from Texas A&M and his master’s from the University of Phoenix.

While at Texas A&M, Anthony was the defensive team captain, both the A&M Scholar Athlete of the Year and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Athlete of the Year in 2000 and made the Big XII Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

After college, Anthony played professionally in the National Football League, the Canadian Football League and NFL Europe.
