Track & field athletes going for the gold at State Meet

Three Lamar CISD schools will be represented at the 2016 UIL State Track and Field meet, Thursday – Saturday at the University of Texas in Austin.

George Ranch High School is sending a large squad of athletes to State, having qualified for the 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays for both boys and girls.

Jazmyn Tilford-Ruterford, Kandice Miles, Chidube Ogbonna and Lisa Egege make up the girl’s 4x100-relay team, with Franchesica Okokhere and Alexis Woods listed as alternates.

Tilford-Rutherford, Miles, Ogbonna and Lisa Egege also comprise the 4x400-meter relay, with Lily Egege and Victoria Tennon serving as alternates.

Tilford-Rutherford will also run the 400-meter dash.

Longhorn boys going to Austin to compete in individual events are pole-vaulter Jacob Adair, Champion Allison in the 400-meter dash and Jayson Baldridge running the 300-meter hurdles.

The 4x100 meter relay squad includes Darius Anderson, Baldridge, Josh Scruggs, Allison, Cook and Jairon McVea. The 4x400 meter relay team is made up of Corey Gorman, Badridge, LeRoy Franklin, Allison, Charles Irowa and Ben Willis.

Lamar Consolidated’s Kristle Ike will compete in discus and Foster shot-putter Cherish Egbo also makes the trip to Austin.
