Mar 27, 2024 | Lamar CISD Communications

March 26, 2024Rosenberg, Texas On March 22, Lamar Consolidated High School (Lamar CHS) celebrated 75 years of education with alumni, students, staff, and the community.

The celebration included student performances from the campus such as cheerleaders, drum line, and the Mariachi Ensemble, which were all great displays of mustang pride. Additionally, the following student groups volunteered at stations throughout the event including Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) students, the National Honor Society, Student Council, and the Fillies Dance Team.

“As principal of Lamar Consolidated High School, who also happens to be a proud alumna and product of this very campus, it brings me deep gratitude and joy to welcome our community to celebrate the LAMARvelous 75th Anniversary,” Lamar CHS Principal Sierra King, and graduate from the class of 2007 said.

Lamar CHS was established in 1949 and is now home to approximately 1,709 students. During the event, alumni from as far back as the 1950s were invited to join in for a group picture and walk down memory lane. The first graduating class was in 1951 and this inaugural cohort was represented by Frances Rinehart (Mary Frances Huchingson).

“As a district we celebrated 75 years in 2023-2024, so to celebrate that diamond year is a testament that we’ve come a long way and have so much more to go,” Lamar CISD Superintendent Dr. Roosevelt Nivens said. “Each year, we strive to be better than the last and make our schools a fun, safe learning environment.”

The event would not have been a success without all the staff, volunteers, and student groups. A special thanks to event sponsors Texas Party Box, Dazzling Displays, Perfect Touch, Royal G, The Hut, and A Pop of Glam.
