Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) FML is available for an employee who has been employed by LCISD for more than one year and has worked 1250 hours or more from July 1 through June 30th of the previous year. FML allows an employee up to12 weeks from July 1 through June 30 for employee illness or illness in the immediate family (spouse, parent or child). An employee who is absent for more than five work days because of the same illness or illness in the immediate family must contact the Office of Employee Benefits to begin the process of applying for FML. Medical certification will be required from your physician or the physician treating your family member to be considered for approval under the FMLA. If you do not meet the criteria for FML, please contact the Office of Employee Benefits to discuss other medical leave options.
