Lamar CISD Response to Labor and Supply Shortage

Oct 26, 2021 | Community Relations

We wanted to let you know that as you hear reports of nationwide supply and labor shortages, Lamar CISD is already taking steps to combat these shortages and continue to serve our students each day.

Like many school districts across the nation, Lamar CISD is experiencing both food and disposable shortages. In some cases, manufacturers are discontinuing entire products, which affects our breakfast and lunch menus. The driver shortage is also affecting food delivery to our campuses.

However, the District is proactively addressing these challenges to ensure all of our students continue to receive free, nutritious meals on campus.

First, the Child Nutrition Department updates our breakfast and lunch menus weekly to include any food item substitutes due to the shortages. They also ensure the substituted items meet federal and state regulations.

Our Support Services team also came together to create a responsive solution to the impact on food delivery to our campuses. The District’s food supplier has shared they’re limiting our food deliveries due to the driver shortage, so Lamar CISD’s Transportation Department will step in and help redistribute food to campuses during the week when they’re not driving their routes.

Meeting our students’ physical, emotional and academic needs is a top priority in Lamar CISD. Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for all students.
