Campbell families have the opportunity to return materials such as library books and take-home readers and to collect their child's items. This exchange will occur at the back bus ramp area on three different days between Tuesday, June 2 – Thursday, June 4, 2020. Please remember we have our 5th grade car parade on Thursday, June 4 at 9:00am so expect some delays around the campus if you are wanting to pick up and drop off items on the morning of the 4th. In addition, some students have medication in the clinic that needs to be returned to families as well. Nurse Poncik will be in contact to work with families on a plan to pick the medication up from her. For safety reasons, the medication cannot be placed in the student's distribution bag.
If you have specific questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher. Should you have some sort of conflict, with the exchange of items during this window of time please e-mail Mrs. Payne at [email protected].
PROCEDURES FOR THE EXCHANGE
Station 1 (Caller) The first station will be set up by the cafeteria storage area in the back of the campus where we can utilize the large bus ramp area located close to the gym where the students individual bags are stored until pick up. The parent will drive up to the sign that says. “STATION #1” so the staff member on duty can view the name, grade and teacher of the students on a posted piece of paper on the passenger side window. The parent will then be waved to station #2.
Station 2 (Drop Off) The second station is set up where the parent will drive up to drop off library books, teacher take home readers / novels or other teacher items needing to be returned and technology equipment. Please place the teacher’s items in a zip lock bag with the teacher’s name on the bag. If you wish to deliver a treat to the teacher, please arrange this privately as all of these items will be quarantined for 14 days. At "Station #2" parents will place the car in park then pop the trunk for the items to be removed. Once removed, the parent will be directed to move to a slot that is numbered in station 3.
Station 3 (Pick Up) This staff member will help direct the cars to one of five different slots to pick up items from the runners. Runners will go between the gym and bus ramp slots to deliver the students personal items. The bag will be placed in the trunk of the parked car which will have the students school supplies, report card, yearbook (if one was purchased) and other personal items packed up by the teacher. We will do everything we can to return your child’s personal effects but know that many students do not have their names in their jackets/lunch kits. All items in Lost & Found will not be donated, as in years past, but held until the fall semester of 2020.
Station 4: (Medications) Nurse Poncik will assist all parents with the pick-up of students’ medications in the front circle drive of the campus. Please avoid, Thursday, June 4 around 9:00-10:00 as we are hosting a 5th grade car parade.
PARENT PROTOCOLS
Prior to Leaving Your Home
- Parents must identify their car with the child’s last name, first name, grade level and teacher’s name. Elementary parents could use their existing car rider tags already in place. Parents that do not have a tag should use an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper and write the student(s) last name, first name and grade level in dark lettering. Make sure the paper containing the student’s name and grade is hanging on the inside of the passenger side window and is visible to the person standing outside of the building.
- Place teacher materials in a baggie with the name of the teacher to whom the items belong to for return.
- Gather library books if they are at home – No need to label nor bag as they will be checked in after quarantine.
When the parent arrives on campus by motor vehicle only, these protocols need to be followed:
• Do not park in the parking lot for service.
• Do not roll down the window. (See exception below)
• Stay inside the car/truck/SUV at all times. Waving is encouraged, however, students should not hug, fist-bump or get out of the car.
• Observe social distancing and CDC guidelines. Our staff will be following all CDC guidelines.
• People in the car are encouraged to wear a mask.
• Parents should open their trunk from the inside and school staff will remove the District-owned items. For safety reasons, they should make sure the car is in park before opening the trunk/hatch.
• If the trunk can’t be opened from inside the car, or it is a truck, parents should roll down the passenger-side window so that the bag or box can be passed through to school staff.
• Once the items have been retrieved from their car, they will follow the signage to direct them to the next station.
• At the next station, school staff will place their child’s classroom items in the trunk of their vehicle or pass the items through the passenger window.
• Pull forward so the next car can be served.
NOTE: Campbell support staff members will be at the stations so please do not expect to see your child’s teacher.
