The son of Debbra and Allen Tsao, he will attend Rice University, majoring in Neuroscience and Spanish on a pre-med pathway. Upon receiving his undergraduate degree, Michael has plans to work in the medical field or in public policy research. Ultimately, Michael says he aims “to find a career that enables me to be an agent of change in the daily lives of others. I hope to support my community and family in the future the way they have supported me throughout my life.”

While at George Ranch, Michael was the president of the Spanish Honor Society and the co-founder and co-president of the chemistry club. Michael also served as the head drum major for the Longhorn Band, was community service co-chair for student council and an active member for the National English Honor Society and NHS. Outside of school, Michael volunteered at Helping Hands and was a junior coach for a neighborhood swim team.

While at George Ranch, Michael was recognized multiple times for his achievements. The most notable included being selected as a National AP Scholar with distinction and being recognized as a qualifier for UIL State Solo & Ensemble, earning Superior Rating, four times.

Reflecting on his high school experience and looking towards the future, Michael encourages his classmates to always stay curious and try to learn something new. He urges his fellow longhorns to Seek to understand new and different perspectives, but never stray from your core values. Leaving GRHS with the fondest of memories, Michael will never forget the kindness, wisdom and dedication of his teachers and the unending lessons and mentorship they provided him with.

He leaves his fellow Longhorns with his favorite quote: “Live life to the fullest. You have to color outside the lines once in a while if you want to make your life a masterpiece. Laugh some every day. Keep growing, keep dreaming, keep following your heart. The important thing is not to stop questioning.” –Albert Einstein
