Valedictorian and Salutatorian for Lamar Consolidated High's Class of 2021

Graduation exercises for Lamar Consolidated High School's Class of 2021 will be held Thursday, May 20, at 8 p.m. at Traylor Stadium.

Steve McWilliam
 is the Valedictorian for the Class of 2021 at Lamar Consolidated High School.

The son of Leslie McWilliam and Sarah Thomas, he will attend the University of Texas, majoring in Psychology. Steve aspires to become a psychologist or therapist upon graduating from college.

While at LCHS, Steve was a member of Student Council, Color Guard, College Community Career, LEOS, NHS and HOSA.  Steve encourages his fellow Mustangs to follow their passions and do whatever makes them most happy. He leaves the Class of 2021 with a quote from David D. Burns, “There is only one person who could ever make you happy, and that person is you.”

Bernita Johnson is the Salutatorian for the Class of 2021 at Lamar Consolidated High School.

The daughter of Armour Johnson, Bernicia Johnson, Andre Blanchfield, Dalia Blanchfield and Ben Elander, she intends on attending The University of Texas, majoring in Biology with a Pre-Med emphasis. Bernita aspires to become a physician and give back to Dominica where she was raised.

While at LCHS, Bernita was a member of SkillsUSA, CBPP, the Criminal Justice Association, TSA, Student Council, CCC and Leadership High School. She also participated in wrestling and jiu-jitsu.

She aims to be an example that “success can come from the smallest places” and hopes to help Dominica reach its full potential as she works with Doctors Without Borders. Bernita chose a quote by Viola Davis as her goodbye to the class of 2021, “You cannot live to please everyone else. You have to edify, educate and fulfil your own dreams and destiny.”
