Juleette Akoma is the Valedictorian for the Class of 2022 at Terry High School.

The daughter of Georgette Martin and Maurice Martin, she will attend Xavier University of Louisiana, majoring in Biology. She plans to pursue a career as a doctor in the orthopedic field specializing in sports medicine.

While at Terry, Juleette served as the Student Council President, National Honor Society Vice President and a member of Youth in Philanthropy. She was also on the varisty track and volleyball teams and even found time to coach little league cheer on the side. Juleette will remember the the genuine connections she made with classmates, teammates, and teachers. She said she will also remember the unwavering advocacy that her mother, math teacher Mrs. Martin, had for not only her education and experience, but for ALL of her fellow Rangers. She reminds the Ranger community to Value your education to the fullest, as no one can take your knowledge away from you.

Juleette leaves the class of 2022, and her fellow Rangers, with her favorite quote:

“Life is too short to waste any amount of time on wondering what other people think about you. In the first place, if they had better things going on in their lives, they wouldn't have the time to sit around and talk about you. What's important to me is not others' opinions of me, but what's important to me is my opinion of myself.”― C. JoyBell

SAUCEDA PICTURE

Victoria Sauceda is the Salutatorian for the Class of 2022 at Terry High School.

The daughter of Benito and Sylvia Sauceda, she will attend Rice University majoring in Biosciences and a major concentration in Cell Biology and Genetics. Victoria aspires to one day become a cardiologist.

While at Terry High School, Victoria was involved in HOSA, the Houston Youth Symphony, was the head drum major of the ranger ban, was on the wrestling team and served as the historian for NHS.

Victoria says her favorite part of high school was the excitement of performing on the center podium as drum major and the friendships she formed with her classmates.  She encourages her fellow rangers to live their own lives and follow their dreams, not others’ dreams for them. She leaves her rangers with her favorite quote: “For what it’s worth … it’s never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit. Start whenever you want. You can change or stay the same. There are no rules… We can make the best or the worst of it.” – Eric R. Roth
