Gifted & Talented What is GT students perform at, or show the potential to perform at, a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience or environment, and exhibit high performance capability in an intellectual area or excel in a specific academic field. mnat does the elemnentary GT program look like? Identified students will attend Vade level pullout classes with campus GT Facilitators for 90 minutes each week with a focus on 'lematic curriculum units: THEMES: structure, power, change, conflict, exploration, influence, force, order, systems, relationships, patterns UNITS: Programming, CSI, Countries & Cultures, Robotics & Drones, Powerful People, Ologies (Speleology, Omithology, Cryptology, Radiology, Archaeology, Meteorology, etc.) FALL 2018 Nominated students NEW to LCISD' Aug. 27th- sep. 7th SPRING 2019 Screening: Nomination Deadline: Friday. Dec. 21. 2018 Kindergarten: Students do not need to be nominated, as all students are screened for the program. GT Nominations

To nominate a student for the elementary Lamar CISD GT Program, a nomination form must be filled out & returned; nomination forms are accepted year round.  This form can be accessed by clicking on the link on the bottom of this page or picking one up in the front office.  The nomination window for this year closes on December 21, 2018 & screening will be available in January.  Kindergarten students do not need to be nominated, as every student is screened for the program.   Kinder parents will be notified this year of their child's results by the first week of March. First through 4th grade students already identified as Gifted & Talented do not need to be reassessed.   Fifth graders, including current GT students interested in participating in the 6th grade GT Program DO need to be nominated since it is LCISD's policy to re-screen all GT fifth graders for the secondary program.  The GT Program serves students who have an educational need for specialized services.  The program includes placement with a classroom teacher trained in gifted education.

 Parents of students going through the screening process this spring will be notified of the ARE decision the first week of May, 2019.
