Astronotes for April 18, 2018

I apologize for not getting Astronotes out last week.  We were heavily involved in STAAR testing and the week was over before I realized.  We should be getting the results of the 5th grade math and reading scores by April 30th. Fourth grade writing scores will not be in until the other STAAR scores are sent to the campuses.  Writing takes longer to score as someone must read each sample and assign a rating to it.  All other tests can be scanned and scores come out much quicker.  Any fifth grader that does not pass the reading or math test will retake the test the week of May 14th.

We are rapidly approaching the month of May which always has so many activities.  I think we have more events in May than we have in the entire rest of the year. The students do enjoy having the fun events during the final month.  This year our school year goes through the first week of June.  Student’s final day is June 7th.

This Saturday is the Lamar CISD Job Fair at Foster High School.  If anyone is interested in working in LCISD it would be a good idea to attend this event.  The Job Fair is from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.  Austin as well as all of the other schools in the district will be visiting with prospective applicants.
