Astronotes for March 22, 2017

Mar 22, 2017 | Bud Whileyman

We are currently looking for some parents to volunteer for PTO positions.  There are a number of positions open for the coming school year.  Please consider being a part of this important organization.  Our children benefit greatly from the funds that PTO raises throughout the year.  Last year’s big project was the digital marquee out in front of the school.  This year we will be installing a cover over one of the playground structures so the students will stay a little cooler during the hot months of the year.  Other items funded by the PTO include fields trips for every grade level, technology, reading programs, breakfast for students on STAAR days, and just about any other materials that have been requested from our staff.  If we cannot get volunteers to be a part of the PTO we will not be able to continue doing all of the extra things that we currently do for our students.

Next week we will be administering the STAAR test to 4th and 5th grade students.  The days for the test are Tuesday, March 28th and Wednesday, March 29th.  We are a closed campus on these days.  We want to keep distractions to a minimum and allow our students to fully focus on these important tests.  Also parents should not be calling students on their cell phones during school hours.  If you need to get a message to your child call the office and we will relay the information.  Students using cell phones during school hours are subject to having their cell phones confiscated as per district policy.
