It has been so great seeing all of our students return for the 2016-2017 school year. We also have many new faces and we want these new students to feel welcome at Austin Elementary School. Just a reminder that the tardy bell rings at 7:30 am. Arriving students will be directed into the cafeteria or gym if they arrive before 7:20 am. We would like our students to arrive between 7:00 and 7:20 as we will be giving students in grades 2-5 math problems to solve before they go to class. You should be getting details on this from our math facilitator. Students in grades K-1 will be given a book to look at while waiting for the 7:20 bell. Students will be released to go to their classrooms at 7:20. Also we ask that parents begin allowing their children to walk down the hall by themselves so they can get acclimated to their school environment. If you need to take something to the classroom you must have a badge that can be created in the front office before you will be allowed to go down the hall. This is done for your child’s protection as we want to make sure all adults in the building are properly screened before giving them access to the classroom areas.
If your child is a pickup in the afternoon be sure to display your card with the child’s name and grade level. This will help speed up the pickup process. We seem to have a large number of car pickups this year and we are trying to get everyone in and out as quickly as possible. The gym side of the building is for car and day care pickups while the front of the building is for buses. Please help us to follow these procedures so we don’t have any confusion about our students’ transportation home.
If you are dropping off your child after the 7:30 a.m. bell, you must go to the front of the school to drop off your student, as all side doors will be locked once the 7:30 a.m. bell rings. (Parents who are already in the drop off line at 7:30 a.m. will still be able to drop off students.)
Another reminder about the Beginning of Year Forms, if you have not completed these, please login to family access and get these completed as soon as possible.
