Astronotes for January 7, 2015

Jan 06, 2015 | Bud Whileyman

Welcome back!  It seems strange to be typing in “2015” when writing the date. Time continues to move on as we begin the second half of the year.  Let’s hope 2015 is a great year for everyone.

Each school in the state of Texas is given a School Report Card from the Texas Education Agency.  These report cards are available online at the T E A Website.  You can go into the site and pull up any school in the state of Texas to see how they did on STAAR tests from the past year.  It compares your school’s scores in each area tested with the state and district results and also compares the 2013 scores with the 2014 scores. The Accountability Rating is either Met Standard, Improvement required or Not Rated.  We did receive Met Standard and received Distinction Designations in Reading/LA, Mathematics, Science, Postsecondary Readiness, and Top 25% Closing Performance Gaps.

Additional information on the report card shows attendance rate, enrollment by ethnicity, and enrollment by student groups. Campus expenditures for campus, district, and state are also included.   Click here to download a copy: austin report card or please give us a call if you need help accessing this website. You may also request a paper copy from the front office and Mrs. Beran will print a copy for you.

Our current Fifth Grade Parents and Students are invited to attend a Course Selection Meeting at Wessendorf Middle School on January 28th in their cafeteria from 6:00- 7:00 p.m.  This will help inform you about next year's course selection and expectations.  Our counselor will also meet with students on February 3rd here at Austin.
