The library is open Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. until 2:45 p.m. All classes have the opportunity to check out books once a week.
Students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade may check out one book at a time, and students in 2nd-5th Grade may check out two books at a time. All books are checked out for a one-week period, but may be renewed for a second week. Students may not check out new books if their previous books have not been returned or renewed, so please remind your students to return their library books every week.
The best place for students to store their library books is in their backpacks, so they can check out new ones when they come to the library. All library books are expected to be kept in a sealed Ziploc bag to protect them from damage. By Lamar C.I.S.D. policy, students are required to pay the replacement cost of any book that is lost or damaged beyond repair. If a student finds and returns a lost book that has been paid for within the same school year, a refund may be given.
