Traffic Flow for Drop Off and Dismissal

Procedures for Morning Drop-off and Afternoon Dismissal

Having an efficient and safe car rider drop-off and dismissal process is a top priority.  We need your help to make it as efficient as possible please.

Morning Drop-off

  • Please drop off your child(ren) in the driveway closest to the school and wait for a safety patrol student to open the car door.

  • If you want to walk your child to the front door, you may park in the parking lot and walk the child across the street when a staff member welcomes you across the driveway.

  • Only cross at the designated crosswalks around the school.  For safety reasons, please do not cross or allow your child to cross anywhere else.

  • When exiting the school driveway, only right turns will be permitted during morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal in order to keep our traffic moving efficiently.

Afternoon Dismissal

  • Hang your orange car rider sign from your rear view mirror so that it is visible until your child gets into your car.  Most people use a pants hangar for this purpose.

  • If you arrive after the students have been taken inside, you will need to come into the front office to sign your child out as a late pick-up.

If everyone follows the above procedures consistently, our morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal will be a home run!

Rainy Day Dismissal

Bulldog Families,

In order to manage our rainy-day dismissal efficiently, please see the procedures below.

• Rainy day dismissal is typically called no earlier than 2:30 PM and will be communicated via a Skylert text and email message to all Adolphus families.

• For safety reasons, no student will be permitted to walk or ride a bike home during a rainy day dismissal.

• Every student has a rainy day dismissal plan on file with his/her teacher and will go home according to that plan.

If you are unsure of that plan, please contact your child’s teacher.

In order to reduce the traffic jam, we recommend parents follow the request below:

• HOV pick-up (more than one student): Get in car line from 2:40-2:55

• Single student pick-up: Get in car line at 2:55

• Walk-in pick-ups are discouraged and will not be processed until after 2:55 PM so that we can keep our staff’s energy focused on keeping students safe and getting dismissal traffic moving.

Please pack your patience because rainy day dismissals are definitely a slower process than regular dismissals. The staff and safety patrol students work hard to get students into their cars as quickly as possible.
