For students ages 2 months through grade 12, Lamar CISD has a variety of enrichment opportunities that extend beyond the traditional classroom. From summer reading, STEM focused camps, and our Back to School Block Party, Lamar CISD has a FULL summer of enrichment programs planned!

Click on the options below to learn about programs offered including dates, locations, eligibility, and how to register.

Emergent Bilingual (PACT) Parent and Child Together Time Play and Learn- Face to Face

Description

The 4-day camp will enhance emergent bilingual parents and their child's language and literacy skills while empowering parents by providing tools to provide support for summer home/school connection. Focus will be on developing age-appropriate social and academic skills for children 2 mos. – 3 yrs. and encouraging parent interaction through Parent and Child Together (PACT) Time. Kits and books will be provided for home learning for the first 50 participants. Registration is required due to space availability.

Parent and child will have access to Play and LEARN (Let s Eliminate at Risk Needs) in face-to-face early childhood classroom setting along with other families also learning English to provide parental support and scaffolding for home learning.

Parent Tid-Bits guest speakers will highlight community resources available for family needs for summer programming. Family and Child Together Time events will also include special learning experiences with The Children’s Museum Para Los Ninos, Kindermusik and the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

Parent and Child Together Time (PACT) Emergent Bilingual Virtual Summer Literacy Enrichment Camp

PACT classes focus on educational and developmentally appropriate activities where parents and children can study and interact together. Preschool School Ready Camp

Description

During the 4-day virtual camp preschoolers and caregivers will support language literacy skills to prepare for the upcoming school year. Participants will be given enhanced language kits to provide as tools for the school year and books to review basic school ready concepts

Caregivers will have guest speakers to provide support for a successful beginning of the year! This is a Virtual Event. Preschool Ready Backpacks are first come first served.

Camp Connect

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED

Description:  Campers will engage in hands-on activities that unleash their inner maker, scientist, artist, and athlete—all in a collaborative, inclusive environment that cultivates wonder and a knack for exploration. Camp will feature "Kids Fit & Fun" with the YMCA helping kids develop skills to improve health through play, exploring the design thinking process while building their own robot, create original artwork based on math and science concepts, and an epic finish on the last day with a live performance from Books Alive!

There are 3 sessions available, but students may only attend one of the sessions listed below:

  •  Session 1: Monday, June 12 – Friday, June 16
  •  Session 2: Monday, June 19 – Friday, June 23
  •  Session 3: Monday, June 26 – Friday, June 30

NOTE: Students may only attend ONE camp session.

Bentley Elementary School Title III Language Enrichment Camp

Description

During the 4-day camp students will participate in an inquiry project about the national parks. Research and create art projects while turning their classrooms into "national park visitor centers." Camp will include a visit from park rangers from Brazos Bend State Park and students will learn more about the job of a ranger and be able to interact with animals

This camp is designed for LCISD Emergent Bilingual Students currently enrolled at Bentley Elementary School in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th grade. Registration is required and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Families must provide their own transportation. Meals will NOT be provided. 

Space for camp is limited. Registration does not guarantee your child a spot at camp. All families that register will be notified by email on Monday, May 15th if your child has been added to the camp roster or if your child is on the waiting list.

GT Camp Invention

Description:  Camp Invention is an enrichment STEM summer camp where GT students build creative inventions and lasting friendships. Campers will discover engineering concepts while building robots, exploring coding (through multiple platforms), and learning innovative ways robots enhance productivity. Girls Who Code Camp

Description:  The female perspective in the tech space is vital. Girls Who Code Camp creates an environment where questions, discovery and even failure are treated as positive parts of the learning process. Girls Who Code Camp offers hands-on experiences with challenging and innovative concepts. Students learn problem solving and analytical skills while fostering an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) related careers plus work in teams to use programming languages to build games, web pages and robots.

 

There are 2 sessions available, however, students may only attend one of the sessions listed below:

Adult ESL Summer Language and Literacy Institute

Description

English as a Second Language Instruction is provided through two formats (online and face to face) delivered by an ESL educator specialized in ESL. English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction is designed to help parents improve their English oral, written, and reading comprehension skills. Parents will have instruction online and face to face.

Project LEARN also provides sessions to learn academic content that helps them better support their children at home. Parenting and personal growth are also part of our parent education program. We strongly believe that providing these opportunities will help parents advocate for their children’s education and guide them on their road to college.

Registration is required and space is limited. Adult education kits are limited and are given first come first served.
