Lamar Consolidated Independent School District partners with Region IV to serve our Migrant population. Lamar CISD and Region IV help the state of Texas identify students who may qualify for the Migrant Program services. These services provide extra help in academics as well as community services. When registering with Lamar CISD two questions are asked:
• Has your family moved any time during the last three years from one school District to another in Texas or across states?
• Were any of these moves made to find temporary or seasonal work in agriculture related to job packing, processing, harvesting, cultivating of crops, food processing, dairy work, forestry, fishing, etc.?
Registration is online and Campus registrars or secretaries print the document containing the responses to these two questions which indicate to the District the possibility for qualification.
The Accelerated Language Programs Department receives the answers to the above questions and sends the information to Region IV. Region IV will conduct a home visit and interview to determine the family eligibility for Migrant services.
Once identified Region IV and LCISD provide additional services that support academic success.
Every year the information on those who qualify is updated and verified. If a family has not moved in a three year period, they no longer qualify as a Migrant.
