Enrollment & Transfers

New Student Enrollment for the 2024-2025

School Year

Students currently enrolled and returning to LCISD do not need to register - even if they are changing campuses due to Zoning, Leveling, or Uncapping.

Students new to LCISD enrolling in April or May 2024 for the current school year will follow the directions below beginning with Step One.

Enrollment for students new to LCISD for the 2024-2025 School Year is currently scheduled for the following dates and locations (subject to change). 

  • Pre-Kinder and Kindergarten Round-Up
    • Dates: April 22 - May 3 
    • Times: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
    • Locations: Zoned Campuses
    • Notes: Registration for new campuses will occur at the closest LCISD school if the new campus is not finished
  • Registration for Pre-Kinder through Grade 5
    • Dates: May 28 - June 6 
    • Times: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Monday through Thursday)
    • Locations: All Zoned Campuses
  • Central Registration for All Campuses and All Grade Levels (PK-12)
    • Dates: June 10 - July 18
    • Times: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Monday and Tuesday) 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Wednesday and Thursday)
    • Location: Wertheimer Middle School, 4240 FM 723, Rosenberg, 77471
    • Closed on July 19 for Juneteenth Holiday and July 1- 4 for Independence Day
  • On Campus Registration
    • Dates: July 24 - August 8
    • Times: Call campus for specific times
    • Locations: All District Campuses
    • No registration on August 7 (District Convocation)

Removal of the Campus Enrollment Cap for Schools for the 2024-2025 Academic Year

Lamar CISD is among the fastest-growing school districts in Texas, and student enrollment continues to climb. As a result of the growing student population, we placed enrollment caps on several campuses during the last two years.   

To keep up with our growth, we frequently build and open new schools while reviewing and monitoring enrollment. After careful consideration and planning, we are pleased to announce that for the 2024-2025 school year, we are removing the cap on student enrollment for the following campuses:  

  • Bentley ES 
  • Hubenak ES 
  • Huggins ES 
  • Lindsey ES 
  • Morgan ES 
  • Tamarron ES 
  • George Ranch HS

We anticipate increased accessibility to our schools when we remove the cap. However, we understand that some of our families have grown accustomed to the overflow campuses. Therefore, we want to clarify the options available for families impacted by the cap and overflow process.   

If your student will be in 5th grade for the 2024-2025 school year and is attending an overflow campus, you can either continue with your student attending the overflow campus for the upcoming school year or have your student attend their home/zoned campus. It is important to note that if you choose to keep your student at the overflow campus, you are responsible for their transportation to and from school.   

This option is ONLY available to students who will be in 5th grade for the 2024-2025 school year. It does NOT apply to any siblings of that student.

Retiro del límite de inscripción en los campus escolares para el curso 2024-2025

Lamar CISD se encuentra entre los distritos escolares de más rápido crecimiento de Texas, y las inscripciones de estudiantes siguen en aumento. Como resultado de esta creciente población estudiantil, hemos establecido límites de inscripción en varios campus durante los últimos dos años.

Para seguir el ritmo de este crecimiento, construimos y abrimos con frecuencia nuevas escuelas al mismo tiempo que revisamos y controlamos las inscripciones. Tras una cuidadosa consideración y planificación, nos complace anunciar que para el ciclo escolar 2024-2025, eliminaremos el límite de inscripción de estudiantes para los siguientes planteles:

Tenemos previsto un aumento de la accesibilidad a nuestras escuelas cuando eliminemos este límite. Sin embargo, entendemos que algunas de nuestras familias se han acostumbrado a los campus saturados. Por lo tanto, queremos aclarar las opciones disponibles para las familias afectadas por los límites y el proceso de sobrecupo.

Si su hijo cursa el 5º grado en el ciclo escolar 2024-2025 y asiste a un campus con sobrecupo, tiene dos opciones: continuar asistiendo al campus de sobrecupo durante el próximo ciclo escolar o hacer que su hijo asista al campus de su zona correspondiente. Es importante tener en cuenta que si decide mantener a su hijo en el campus de sobrecupo, usted es responsable del transporte desde y hasta la escuela.

Esta opción SÓLO está disponible para los estudiantes que cursarán el 5º grado en el ciclo escolar 2024-2025. NO se aplica a ningún hermano de ese estudiante.

Pre-Kinder and Kindergarten Qualifications

Pre-Kinder

  • For Pre-K, a student must be 4 years of age on September 1 of the school year in which they start and be eligible for Pre-Kindergarten services. For eligibility requirements, please click here.
  • For Kindergarten, a student must be 5 years of age or older on September 1 of the school year in which they start.

Follow the below steps to enroll your child(ren) in our district:

Step 1: Find Your LCISD Zoned School

Please Note: Attendance zones for 2024-2025 are now available. If enrolling for the 2023-2024 year, use the pulldown menu to the left in the pop-up window to see current attendance zones.

Step 2: Create a Family Access account and complete the New Student Online Enrollment

  • To complete the online enrollment for your student, you must have an active email address you can access.
  • Create a Family Access Account (one per household) by clicking the Access Skyward button below. Once you have submitted your request for a Family Access Account, you will receive an email with a secure link to complete the New Student Online Enrollment Application for your student(s).

Step 3: Collect the following required documentation for each student.

  • Proof of Residency: Closing documents or lease agreement or current fixed utility bill (gas, water, or electric) in parent/guardian’s name with an address in Lamar CISD.
  • A copy of parent/guardian government issued ID
  • Student Birth Certificate or Record of Birth or Passport
  • A copy of the student's Social Security Card (if available)
  • Student Immunization Record
    • If you would like your child to be exempted from school immunization requirements, review the process for obtaining the necessary affidavit by clicking here.
  • Academic Records from previous school -- most recent transcript or report card (depending on grade level)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Presenting false information or false records for enrollment is considered a criminal offense under Texas Penal Code 37.10 and could result in both criminal charges and liability for tuition expenses under Texas Education Code 24.001(h).


Step 4: Contact Zoned Campus to Complete the Registration Process

  • After completing the New Student Online Enrollment Application, contact your zoned campus to provide the parent/student documentation and finalize the campus enrollment procedures.
  •  Please Note: Terrell Elementary, Viola Randle Elementary, and Willie Melton Elementary are anticipated to open in late May 2024. Pre-K and Kinder Roundup enrollment will occur at Bentley (Terrell), Huggins or Tamarron (Randle), or Lindsey (Melton).

Intra or Inter District Transfer Requests

(Read below for qualifications before completing a request form)

  • If your student/s currently attends Lamar CISD and you move to a new address within the same Lamar CISD attendance zone, you do not need to complete a transfer application. Instead, contact the school your child will be attending to update your address and provide an updated proof of residency.

  • If you live in Lamar CISD and plan to move to another attendance zone within the first 6 weeks of a semester and want your student to start at their new school, please fill out the Intra-District Transfer application below.
  • If you live outside of Lamar CISD and plan to move to Lamar CISD within the first 6 weeks of a semester, please fill out the Inter-District Transfer application below.

Once you receive the Transfer approval email, complete the steps listed above for Enrollment for your student/s.
