Art students rope in Houston Livestock and Rodeo Art Show awards

Feb 13, 2018 | Community Relations

Lamar CISD students are sending a record 15 works of art to be judged at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Student Art Show.

The District Public Show will be Saturday, Feb. 17, in the Fulshear HS Cafeteria, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Rodeo usually sets a limit of 13, but were had-pressed to even limit the number to 15, said Ramiro Estrada, Lamar CISD’s Director of Fine Arts.

In total, 19 pieces are making the trip NRG for the next level of judging: 15 high school pieces, two junior high pieces and two elementary pieces.

The works of six students have already been designated for the prestigious Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Show Auction: Foster High School’s Michael-David Archibon, Semaj Brown, Xienna Khim and Sonali Puri; Terry High School’s Roman Orellana; and Reading Junior High’s Katherine Le.
