Lamar Consolidated High School Library

work-in-progressUNDER CONSTRUCTION!

The LCHS library is going through major changes! All books are being placed in genres, furniture is moved around, new furniture is being purchased, murals are being painted, and a coffee bar will be unveiled in the spring!  This process is quite tedious and time consuming, but will be done by the end of the year. The purpose for this move is to help students quickly locate books within the genre they enjoy reading. It also lets them explore other genres as well. The library will continue to be open during school hours and after school. When you visit, please realize that the disorganization and mess is a work in progress.

In order to provide the best experience for all, certain policies have been put in place for using the library. Students must have a signed pass from the teacher to come into the library during school. Students sign in at the desk. Students may check out as many as 2 books at a time, and checkout is for up to 2 weeks. Books can also be renewed. Overdues run 10¢ a day. If a book is lost or damaged, the student is responsible for the cost of the book; late fees are waived upon payment for the book.

Computer use is limited to educational use only. Any student found on an inappropriate site or using a proxy to bypass the district filter will be asked to log off and leave the library. Students can lose their computer privileges for the year if deemed appropriate.

Makerspace

Makerspace is an area where students can come together to collaborate, explore learning, create, and invent. It is currently supplied with magazines, newspapers, posters, construction paper, markers, scissors, glue, ribbon, and other miscellaneous supplies. It is will eventually include a 3D printer and other tools and technology that might not be available at home. It is an excellent resource for students to use during school and after school hours on projects and assignments.
