Dr. John Paul Johnson is the Director of Choirs at to George Ranch High School.  He came from Wichita State University where he was a Professor of Music Education, Director of the School of Music, and a liaison for the Federal Department of Education grant for Quality Teacher Education in the College of Education.  Prior positions included serving as Director of Graduate Studies and Choral Activities at the University of Kansas, Director of Choral Activities and Professor of Music Education at Texas State University, and Choir Director and General Music Specialist at Lampeter-Strasburg High School, Lancaster County, PA.   Under his direction, Dr. Johnson’s choirs have performed at numerous state, regional, and national conventions and have toured throughout the United States and Europe.  He has been Conductor-In-Residence at the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Poland, and Trinity College of Music in London, England.  He has served as adjudicator and clinician for the National Music Festival of Trinidad and Tobago and for the Ministry of Education of Singapore.  Dr. Johnson has conducted numerous concerts at Carnegie Hall – most recently, directing his professional ensemble, the Ad Astra Singers, in the premiere of the new concert series entitled A Cappella…NEXT!  He has served as a conductor, clinician, or adjudicator for more than 700 events throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean.  A graduate of Westminster College (PA) and the University of Wisconsin at Madison, he has been the recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Mentor award at the University of Kansas, the Texas State University Teaching Award of Honor, and the Distinguished Alumni Lecturer award from Westminster College.
