Authors Alive is an exciting new club aimed at not only bringing out the author in you, but also bringing published authors to life through a variety of means. Members will have the opportunity to participate in writing contests and compete by performing recited works of poetry in a national competition called Poetry Out Loud. The winner of the national competition will win a scholarship for themselves as well as money for the school. For Agricultural Education Students

Mission / Vision: FFA prepares students for successful careers and a lifetime of informed choices in global agriculture, food, fiber, and natural resource systems. FFA increases awareness of global technological importance of agriculture, develops competent agricultural leadership, builds self-confidence, promotes cooperation and cooperative attitudes, and promotes citizenship, volunteerism, and patriotism.

Eligibility: FFA is one of the three integral components of an agricultural education program: classroom instruction, supervised agricultural experiences, and life skills. Students between the ages of 12 and 21 who are enrolled in a systematic course of instruction in agricultural education are eligible for membership. The school system must offer agricultural instruction and have an active FFA chapter.

Film and Journalism Society

In the Film Society, we will teach students in depth about the behind the scenes of filming.  We will watch and analyze movies approved by Ms. Sanford.  Using our knowledge of films, we will create our own short films in and outside of school, including UIL event videos.

Mission / Vision: The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill, and leadership development of all health science technology education students, therefore helping students to meet the needs of the health-care community.

Eligibility: HOSA is for students who are currently or previously enrolled in secondary or postsecondary/collegiate health science education classes and/or who are planning to pursue or currently pursuing a career in the health professions.

This will be an opportunity for CFHS lettermen to bond with team-building activities. The club's focus would be on how to promote school pride and unity. Members would organize how to attend an event from each sport or performing art in order to show school support. We would also coordinate how to give back to the school and community through service.

National Honor Society – LCISD District Procedures

  • Members must maintain a weighted GPA of 103 points or higher or equivalent on current GPA scale.
  • Candidate forms will be distributed to juniors in October and collected by December.  Seniors will be accepted by appeal only.
    • In order for a senior to appeal, they must have 40 service hours and will complete the remaining 20 hours by April 1. 
    • Senior appeals will be processed by December.
  • Acceptance letters will be given early January followed by induction ceremony at the end of January.
  • Members must complete the required service hours of 20 per semester, 40 total by April 1st.
  • The Candidate form, bylaws and rubric (Categories only) will be posted on the webpage in October.
  • When going through applications all campuses will include categories below although weights may vary.
    • Discipline, Leadership, Community Service, Accomplishment/Recognition, Extracurricular/Work Hours and Essay
  • Each candidate must have a minimum of 3 teacher recommendations- two from core teachers and one from an elective teacher.

Eligibility: The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national organization of students engaged in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Open to students enrolled in or who have completed technology education courses, TSA’s membership includes over 233,000 middle and high school students in approximately 2,000 schools spanning 49 states. TSA is supported by educators, parents and business leaders who believe in the need for a technologically literate society.
