Frost Elementary School’s Dr. Shannon Hood is Lamar Consolidated ISD’s 2015 Elementary Principal of the Year and Wessendorff Middle School’s Dr. Margaret Patton is the 2015 Secondary Principal of the Year. Both were honored by their peers Friday at a meeting of the District’s administrators.

Hood became principal at Frost in 2000. Prior to taking the helm at Frost, she served as assistant principal at Williams Elementary from 1998 to 2000. She was also a gifted and talented coordinator at Williams and had two teaching stints with the District. Hood also taught in Montana and North Carolina.

Dr. Margaret Patton has lead Wessendorff Middle school l since 2012. Prior to leading Wessendorff, Patton was principal at Missouri City Middle School in Fort Bend ISD. She also served as principal of Barbara Jordan Elementary School in FBISD.

She began her career in Louisiana, where she taught Special Education, Business, and Computer Literacy at the secondary level. She was an Assistant Principal for two years in Louisiana before moving to Texas. Patton taught Special Education and was a Dean of Instruction in Fort Bend ISD prior to becoming a principal.

Each year, Lamar CISD principals choose two of their colleagues to be the principals of the year. Only elementary principals (grades K-5) vote for Elementary Principal of the Year and only secondary principals (grades 6-12) vote on Secondary Principal of the Year.
