Spring Book Festival

Mission Statement

The mission of LCISD librarians is to

create a physical and digital environment in which our students, staff, and community can strengthen their natural inquisitive nature

foster a love of reading

serve as a collaborative resource for teachers and staff in developing powerful learning experiences across all curricular areas.

Student Check Out and Classes

The library is open Monday through Friday from 6:45 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. All classes have the opportunity to check out books once a week.

Kindergarten and first grade are permitted to check out one book per week. Students in second through fifth grades may check out two books per week. All books are checked out for a one-week period but may be renewed for a second week. Students may not check out new books if the previous ones have not been returned or renewed. By Lamar C.I.S.D. policy, students are required to pay the replacement cost of any book that is lost or damaged beyond repair. If a student finds and returns a lost book that has been paid for within the same school year, a refund may be given. Please contact our librarian Vicki Peters for more information.

Library Activities

The library sponsors two book fairs each year, one in the fall and one in the spring. The proceeds from these book fairs are used to purchase new books and support reading incentives and special programs. In addition, the library sponsors activities such as author visits and reading incentive programs, such as Beanstack and Accelerated Reader.
