Terry's Watson named Excellence in Education semifinalist

Terry High School English teacher Mary Catherine Watson is one of only 150 teachers across Texas chosen a Semifinalist during the preliminary judging of the 2017 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards.

Out of 1,300 applications from educators all over Texas, 150 teachers, 40 principals, 25 districts, 15 early childhood providers and 12 school boards were selected as Semifinalists and went on to compete in the Regional judging process.

The 40 Teacher and Principal Finalists were announced through surprise school visits the months of February and March.

Watson received a certificate signed by HEB Chairman Charles Butt, $250 in H-E-B Gift Cards.

“This is a small token of our gratitude for all that you do each and every day to inspire and enlighten young minds,” wrote Jill Reynolds, HEB’s Director of Public Affairs. “You are helping to share the future of Texas and we thank you for your passion and your dedication. You are all an inspiration to us all.”
