I hope everyone enjoyed the inaugural 5K fun run this past weekend. With 217 participants we had tremendous support from our students, parents, and community. The weather was perfect and even if you didn’t place, we all got some much needed exercise. Thanks to Nikki Byrd, Julie Cantu, and all of the PTO volunteers that helped make this such a positive and successful event. I will definitely participate again next year.
Also, congratulations to Mrs. Cantu and the Austin students who help raise $7,651.50 for the American Heart Association. Jump Rope for Heart has been a successful fundraiser for a number of years here at Austin Elementary School. The students enjoy this event and all funds go to a worthwhile organization.
This Friday will be early release for all elementary students. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 am. Next week will be our highly anticipated spring break. I hope everyone has a safe and fun week. We all need to come back at full speed for the home stretch of the school year.
