Procedures for Morning Drop-off and Afternoon Dismissal

Having an efficient and safe car rider drop-off and dismissal process is a top priority.  We need your help to make it as efficient as possible please.

Morning Drop-off

  • Please drop off your child(ren) in the driveway closest to the school and wait for a safety patrol student to open the car door.
  • If you want to walk your child to the front door, you may park in the parking lot and walk the child across the street when a staff member welcomes you across the driveway.
  • Only cross at the designated crosswalks around the school.  For safety reasons, please do not cross or allow your child to cross anywhere else.
  • When exiting the school driveway, only right turns will be permitted during morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal in order to keep our traffic moving efficiently.

Afternoon Dismissal

  • Hang your green car rider sign from your rear view mirror so that it is visible until your child gets into your car.  Most people use a pants hangar for this purpose.
  • If you arrive after the students have been taken inside, you will need to come into the front office to sign your child out as a late pick-up. 

If everyone follows the above procedures consistently, our morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal will be a home run!

Bad Weather Make-Up Days

Students and staff will not be required to make-up either of the bad weather days from last week (January 16th-17th).  We have the required number of minutes built in to our current 2017-2018 instructional calendar to cover these two missed days.

If we have any additional bad weather days, we will be required to make them up—unless they are waived by the Texas Education Agency.

School Hours

The school day begins at 7:30 and ends at 2:40.  The building will be open at 7:00 every day.  Students are tardy if they arrive after 7:30. Transportation changes must be submitted to the front office before 2:00.  Transportation changes must be submitted either by a phone call or by a written note.  Email is not permitted for making transportation changes.

You must complete registration application online at www.lcisd.org before bringing in required documents to the school. 

Required Documents:
Certified Birth Certificate
Student's Social Security Card
Current Immunization Record
Parent/Guardian's Driver's License
Proof of Residence i.e. Fixed Utility Bill (water, gas, or electric)
Most Recent Report Card if coming from another District

Early Release on May 25th and School Holiday on May 28th

Please mark your calendars!  Friday, May 25th, is an early release day for students.  They will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.  Monday, May 28th, is a school holiday to celebrate Memorial Day.  We hope you enjoy your three day holiday weekend!  School will resume on Tuesday, May 29th.
