For the 2009-2010 school year, Lamar CISD will implement the last phase of course levels for grades 6 through 8.

In Social Studies, Science and ELA, there will be two levels:

1. PreAP

2. GT PreAP- A student will need to be identified as GT for this level.

In Mathematics, there will three levels:

1. PreAP Grade Level TEKS - The course sequence will be Math 6, Math 7, and Math 8.

2. PreAP Compacted Grade Level TEKS - A student will cover a year and a half of TEKS during one

school year. The course sequence will be Math 6/7, Math 7/8, and Algebra 1. Any student who

does not meet the standards for Algebra 1, will be placed in Math 8.

*A 5th grade student who earns an 87 average for the year in math will be eligible to enter the compacted curriculum.

3. GT PreAP Compacted Grade Levels TEKS - A student will need to be identified as GT for this level.

Any student who does not meet the standards for Algebra 1, will be placed in Math 8.
