Revised 9/2005
Navarro, a TEA TAKS
Recognized school for sixth graders only, helps students adjust to the
secondary routine. Students are divided among teams of teachers who teach
the same group of students and have a common conference period that they
can use for team planning and parent meetings.
Students are enrolled in seven classes: the core curriculum,
P.E., a fine arts elective, which consists of either a full year of band
or a semester of courses that are taught in art, music, and theater arts.
The P.E. curriculum includes a dress-out program. Additional instruction
is required for some students who did not pass TAKS reading or math on the
first attempt through a Reading and/or Math
Improvement class.
All students participate in the Keyboarding program through
their regular English classes. A flexible schedule will allow students to
have access to an advisory period for study hall, tutoring, enrichment,
self-help programs, and enrichment
clusters.
Students take part in academic activities such as a School-wide
Enrichment Model, Author Fair, Family Language Arts/Social Studies and
Family Math/Science Nights, Videoconferencing activities, and UIL
Competitions. We have many award winning UIL distinctions to our
credit. Fine arts classes
present several musical and theatrical productions a year, while the band
has a winter and a spring concert.
We are extremely Navarro Proud of our students and
staff!
